Bradshaw and colleagues’ peer-reviewed description was published on March 11, 2026. Their study compared African material with DNA from type specimens and found that the commercial NSS sequence did not match the type of true P. natalensis. [1]

- Reported species profile: Pale caps with an ochre-to-brown central region and slender pale stems.
- Reference context: The species description concerns documented African specimens; photographs and trade names alone do not authenticate a current culture.
- Scope: Morphology previously attributed to true P. natalensis should not automatically be transferred to NSS.

Received first culture and had a problem with contam. CubecultureUSA was quick to supply me with not only a replacement culture syringe, but they tossed in an additional culture syringe of Hillbillies at no charge! The results results with the replacement P. Nats were successful and lived up to the description and then some! Definitely a great culture for taxonomy and research! I just started my observations of the complimentary culture, but so far so good! I must note that I also had good support from my mycology supply vendor who also replaced my spawn bag immediately upon my reporting the initial failure, so I cannot assign blame to them or CubecultureUSA, both handled the situation (which was probably caused by my inexperience in this new hobby) exceptionally professionally and I am an extremely satisfied customer after seeing how well I was treated!
